'A' Bag
No, this bag is not perfect. However, I never intended for this bag to be perfect. Instead, this bag is a celebration of the human hand and the beauty of natural materials. Specifically, my aim is for people to know, by looking at this bag, that it is made by hand from real leather.
Two hides of full-grain vegetable tanned kangaroo leather are required to make this bag.
Every process required to transform the leather hides into this bag is done by hand, by me, in Sydney, including:
cutting out each component of the bag;
burnishing the edges of each component; and
lots and lots of saddle stitching with linen thread to join the components. This process is very time consuming due to the density at which I have chosen to sew this bag - at around 11 stitches per inch. There are roughly 1,400 stitches in this bag.
This bag measures approximately:
40cm long;
31cm high without counting the strap;
62cm high with the strap; and
10cm wide.
The opening of the bag is approximately 25cm long.
This bag is unlined and has one internal pocket measuring approximately 19cm long by 9cm high.
Currently, the lead time for the production of this bag is around three weeks from when you place your order.
